Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. seeks a Government & Defense shipments coordinator to manage ocean freight exports from the United States in compliance with applicable laws and company policy.

You will handle bookings, rate requests, documentation, and customer interactions while coordinating with federal agencies, defense contractors, and overseas partners to ensure timely, compliant shipments and accurate invoicing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Geographical knowledge preferred.
• 2 years’ experience handling the exportation of Ocean freight shipments.
• Experience handling Government & Defense related shipments is preferred.
• Experience in freight forwarding industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of US Exports Compliance is preferred.
• Cargowise (C1) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/coordinate the necessary documentation for air/sea transportation activities.
• Knowledge/experience with ITAR and licensed commodities.
• Coordinate with US federal agencies and foreign militaries/defense contractors.
• Ensure compliance with federal, international and commercial contracts.
• Coordinate cargo pickup/transfer and monitor status.
• Communicate with authorities, customers, and suppliers across territories.
• Manage/update carrier/vendor rates and obtain spot rates.
• Communicate with overseas agents and clients about shipment status.
• Track shipments and update customers/agents.
• Create and maintain customer files and invoices.
• Audit files for accuracy and completeness.
