Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking an Air Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead air permitting and compliance efforts for terminals, pipelines, and fleets across the country. The role offers visibility, strategic influence, and leadership development within the L&S ESS&PQ group.

Based in Indianapolis, IN with up to 25% travel, you will guide NSPS determinations, audits, and regulatory advocacy, delivering training and developing robust guidance tools for field staff.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED with 15 years environmental experience in process industry.
• Bachelor’s in engineering or environmental field with 7 years relevant experience.
• Detailed knowledge of current environmental rules and ability to communicate impact plans to leadership for budget development.
• Driver’s license and ability to obtain TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day air permitting and regulatory compliance support for field Environmental Specialists.
• Lead and implement new or revised air regulations (e.g., 40 CFR Part 60 Subpart XXa; Part 63 Subparts R and BBBBBB).
• Collaborate with other Air SMEs and expand expertise across programs.
• Manage air permit and project tracking; set priorities and align resources.
• Develop guidance documents and training to improve consistency across the organization.
