Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking an Air Subject Matter Expert to lead air permitting and compliance for terminals, pipelines, and fleets across the country. The role is full-time and requires 25% travel, with location flexibility across MPLX/L&S sites.

You will shape compliance strategy, advise field Environmental Specialists, and drive improvements while collaborating with engineering, operations, and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High level knowledge of current environmental rules and regulations.
• Ability to review designs for compliance and communicate impacts to leadership.
• Experience with air permitting, NSPS/NSR concepts, and project tracking.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor on day-to-day air permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and support air regulations implementation (40 CFR Part 60 Subpart XXa; Part 63 Subparts R and BBBBBB).
• Collaborate with other Air SMEs and expand program expertise.
• Perform NSPS determinations for terminal, pipeline, and marine projects.
• Lead air permit and compliance audits and drive continuous improvement.
• Represent L&S in rule advocacy with trade organizations and regulators.
• Develop guidance documents and compliance tools for consistent practices.
• Deliver training on air compliance topics to field Environmental Specialists.
• Support emerging technology evaluations and digital transformation initiatives.
• Serve as Air Permitting Coordinator connecting environmental expertise with engineering and operations.
