Novant Health Urgent Care in Aiken Mall is seeking a PRN Patient Services Representative to greet patients, manage front-office tasks, and handle insurance verification and co-pay collection. The role includes balancing daily deposits, posting charges, and assisting with records requests in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma, customer service experience, medical terminology knowledge, and strong computer and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage front office, sign-in, and wait time communication.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-pays; correct demographics as needed.
• Answer incoming calls and schedule appointments.
• Balance daily deposits and post charges; assist billing when needed.
• Copy and forward patient records as requested; maintain charts.
• Assist in training new employees; ensure Code of Conduct and HIPAA compliance.
• Complete PSR career development program within the first year.
• Other duties as assigned; maintain cleanliness of counters and waiting area.

What Are We Looking For?

NHUC is currently looking for a is currently looking for a patient service representative (PSR) to join our team. The PSR greets patients, assisting our patients with paperwork, maintaining the sign-in sheet, and the overall appearance of the front office. The PSR also ensures the accuracy of the patient’s demographics, enter charges into the system and collects co-payments as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Recognizes patient distress and takes action as necessary.
• Greets patients and ensures that the sign in process is completed. Informs patients of the approximate wait time and explains elongated waiting periods.
• Verifies patient insurance eligibility via telephone, fax, or Internet, collects co-payments. Also corrects information in patient demographics and changes with insurance carriers.
• Answers incoming calls and schedules appointments as needed.
• Cleans counters, empties trash, and cleans waiting room and up front area.
• When needed, refers patients to the billing department for assistance after researched by center.
• Performs daily balancing (proofing / posting). Takes deposit to bank as needed.
• Copies patient medical records and sends them out when requested.
• Files charts—must be able to go up / down ladder, bend / lift overhead up to 20 lbs.
• Assists in training new employees. Maintains compliance with training in Code of Conduct, timekeeping, Sexual Harassment, Work Place Violence, OSHA / HIPAA.
• Completes PSR career development program within first year of employment.
• Other duties as assigned.
