Job summary

Katy ISD is seeking an Aide - Special Education at FALDYN ELEMENTARY in Katy, Texas. This full‑time, 187‑day position is non‑exempt with a 48 minimum college hours or ParaPro score requirement, and a valid Texas educational aide certificate.

Responsibilities include clerical, instructional and student-care duties, maintaining records, assisting with materials, and supporting teachers in therapy and self-care activities. CPI certification preferred.

• Assist in maintaining student records, audit folders and data collection.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
• Assist when needed in helping students in self care activities such as feeding and toileting.
• Assist in implementing the therapy programs which may require lifting and positioning.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Physically prompt students through instruction which may require lifting and positioning.

College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test

College hours, high school diploma or GED for Non-Title I campus

Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Knowledge of general office equipment

Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)

Primary Purpose:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Equipment Used:

Personal computer, copier, printer, voice output devices, playground equipment and motor lab equipment.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; occasional running, heavy lifting and carrying, 45 pounds and over daily, positioning of students, moving classroom or adaptive equipment , noise exposure, biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; exposure to physical and verbal outbursts by students. May be required to utilize CPI strategies to manage disruptive students, including restraint.
