Job summary

Amazon’s AWS Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) seeks a Security Engineer to secure production AI systems deployed in customer environments. You will conduct security reviews, write tooling, perform threat modeling, and implement controls that protect AI pipelines and code, with hands-on development and collaboration with FDE pods in customer environments.

You will own real security deliverables from day one, mentor-guided by senior engineers, and work across offensive and defensive AI security

Qualifications

• 2+ years threat modeling, secure coding, and identity management experience.
• 2+ years scripting, programming, and security code review experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 2+ years hands-on building AI/agentic systems.
• 2+ years troubleshooting systems issues and automating tasks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security design reviews, code reviews, and architecture assessments for production AI systems.
• Perform threat modeling and penetration testing for AI/ML apps deployed in customer environments; identify vulnerabilities and work with engineers to fix.
• Build and maintain security automation: scanning tools, CI/CD security gates, guardrail scripts, secrets detection, and dependency checks.
• Implement security controls for AI-specific threats: prompt injection prevention, output filtering, data isolation, model API hardening.
• Support security incident response for production AI systems; assist with triage and remediation.
• Document findings, patterns, and remediation guidance as reusable playbooks.
• Contribute to the security accelerator library with reusable modules and configurations.
• Requires up to 25% travel.
