Job summary

Holland America Line in Seattle is seeking an experienced Analyst, Maritime HR Operations. The role turns maritime HR data into clear insights and practical improvements, building dashboards with Power BI and automating processes to reduce manual work.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical and visualization skills, experience with Mistral/HR data, and can collaborate across teams. Hybrid work arrangement with four days in the Seattle office is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or certifications in Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Business, Human Resources, Maritime Studies or related discipline.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI skills; SQL and/or Python or R is an advantage.
• Experience with automation and AI tools such as Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft Copilot.
• Ability to apply statistical and forecasting techniques and explain results to non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of HR, payroll or crew management data; knowledge of MLC/STCW rules preferred or can be learned.
• High accuracy and attention to detail with structured data quality and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Maintains strict confidentiality when handling personal and pay data.
• Collaborative, curious and open to new ideas; this is a hybrid Seattle-based role with in-office presence four days a week.

Responsibilities

• Data Collection, Management & Quality: gather and integrate maritime HR data from multiple sources and maintain a structured data model with definitions; perform quality checks and reconcile discrepancies.
• Analysis, Interpretation & Predictive Modelling: apply statistical and modelling techniques to identify trends and build forecasting models for workforce planning and operations impact.
• Reporting & Visualization: develop dashboards and reports in Power BI/Microsoft 365 for leadership, auditors and unions; ensure automatic refresh and per-person visibility.
• Work & Rest Hours and Workload Reviews: review shipboard work/rest hours, monitor compliance with MLC/STCW and CBAs, and support manning and rotation planning with data.
• Automation, AI & Process Improvement: map workflows, automate recurring reports and workflows using Power BI/Power Automate/SharePoint; train colleagues in self-service reporting.
