Elsevier is seeking an AI Software Engineering Lead to guide a small team of engineers and deliver high‑quality AI-driven services. You will set direction for RAG workflows, APIs, and platform tooling while mentoring engineers and balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term sustainability.

The role emphasizes leadership, architecture of distributed systems, and collaboration with Data Science to shape the product roadmap and ensure scalable, reliable production systems.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams; manage performance and career development.
• Track record of creating high-performing, collaborative teams and breaking down knowledge silos.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems and APIs at scale; able to define long-term strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor six direct reports and drive the CK AI Service technical strategy.
• Oversee RAG workflows design, API expansion, and governance to enable scalable delivery.
• Improve delivery velocity, reduce bottlenecks, and promote standardization across the platform.
• Establish a sustainable leadership model to support growth and division of the team.
• Collaborate with Data Science to advance product roadmaps and feature design.
