Job summary

EY invites engineers to join Challenger, a new program building AI-powered services. You will own end-to-end product slices, move from user conversations to prototypes, and ensure secure, scalable production services while keeping accessibility and maintainability at the forefront.

You should have 7+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree, hands-on AI product delivery, and strong full-stack capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant and applicable experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
• End-to-end delivery: taking software from concept to launch and adoption.
• Technical breadth: full-stack across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud.
• Applied AI experience: building products with LLMs, retrieval, tools, or similar patterns.
• Evaluation experience: automated testing and behavioral evaluation for probabilistic systems.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, recovery, performance.
• User-centered practice: working with users, designers, and product leaders to turn evidence into decisions.
• Engineering craft: clear specifications, maintainable code, thoughtful reviews, and sound trade-offs.
• This role requires up to 50% travel and a hybrid office schedule across the US.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user by working with users and domain experts to understand workflows.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specifications, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior through instructions, context, retrieval, and outputs.
• Build an evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Instrument user journeys to relate adoption to system behavior and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permissions, data handling, and recovery.
• Own production quality with incremental releases, monitoring, and incident response.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, and cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and evaluation assets to the platform.
