Job summary

AmaWaterways is hiring a Data Analytics Engineer to own the analytics layer of our modern data platform. You will design governed data marts and the semantic layer that powers scorecards, partnering with Finance, Marketing, Revenue Management, Operations, and Reservations to turn questions into trusted models and dashboards.

You will work on a Snowflake-native warehouse with a Senior Data Engineer, applying software engineering practices to analytics, including version control, dbt tests, CI/CD,

Qualifications

• 4+ years building governed analytics models and BI assets in a modern data warehouse.
• Strong SQL on Snowflake with window functions, recursive CTEs, and incremental MERGE patterns.
• Production dbt experience: models, tests, snapshots, documentation, and CI runs.
• Tableau at production quality, and Power BI with secure and optimized dashboards on Snowflake.
• Git and GitHub workflows with code review discipline.
• Use Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent tooling daily with tangible outcomes.
• Strong written communication; explain metrics to Finance and SQL patterns to engineers.

Responsibilities

• Build dbt models in medallion layout with staging, intermediate, and mart models.
• Write performant Snowflake SQL; monitor and optimize query performance.
• Define metrics in the dbt Semantic Layer with clear ownership and grain.
• Author Cortex Analyst semantic YAML for marts queried through natural language.
• Develop and govern dashboards in Tableau Cloud and Power BI with security controls.
• Write dbt tests, add freshness checks, and track SLAs for marts feeding leadership reports.
• Collaborate with Senior Data Engineer on upstream data pipelines.
