Job summary

MISO seeks an AI Governance Engineer to build the enterprise AI governance framework as it expands its use of generative and agentic AI. You will develop guardrails, controls, and oversight mechanisms enabling responsible and secure AI, with a scalable process for registering, evaluating, monitoring, and governing AI solutions across the organization.

You will collaborate with technology, security, compliance, HR, and business teams to establish governance practices adopted across the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE/DS/AI or related field; master's or equivalent experience may be considered.
• 8+ years in software, data, or ML engineering with 3+ years building or evaluating production ML/AI.
• Experience designing, building, and operating shared platforms or internal products used across teams.
• Strong understanding of model training, evaluation, and failure modes.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and roadmap for the enterprise AI governance platform.
• Define a risk-tiered governance framework with monitoring, evaluation, and incident response.
• Deliver a central AI registry and intake process for high-risk AI systems.
• Build automated capabilities for registration, observability, and evidence capture.
• Create reusable evaluation tooling for ML, generative AI, and agentic systems.
• Define monitoring thresholds, incident response, and rollback runbooks.
• Provide leadership reporting on AI quality, usage, and value.
