Job summary

Bechtel seeks an AI Governance Manager to build and lead the enterprise AI governance capability. You will partner with AI delivery teams, Legal, Risk, Privacy, Information Security, Records Management, and Supply Chain to ensure ethical, trustworthy, and safe AI use across EPC and business processes.

The role requires hands-on leadership, governance proportional to risk, and the ability to translate ambiguous issues into practical actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, risk management, or related field; at least 13 years in tech, risk, compliance, or governance, incl. AI.
• US citizenship is required.
• Experience establishing enterprise AI governance programs and governance committees.
• Ability to translate risk findings into proportionate mitigations.
• Ability to coordinate with Legal, Privacy, Security, Risk, Procurement, and Delivery stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the enterprise AI governance program and maintain its framework, policies, standards, and procedures.
• Run AI intake, review, approval, and monitoring workflow and maintain AI system inventory and risk classification.
• Operate the AI governance committee with agendas, materials, and action tracking.
• Coordinate AI impact assessments with Legal, Privacy, Security, Risk, and engineering teams.
• Define review criteria and controls for generative AI assistants and AI agents, including data access and human-in-the-loop requirements.
• Track mitigation actions with owners, due dates, and periodic re-reviews.
• Maintain accountability of business-process owners for intended purposes and outputs.
• Map AI regulations and customer requirements to internal controls; monitor developments.
