Job summary

Sony Corporation of America, the U.S. headquarters of Sony Group, seeks a Staff Attorney, AI Governance, to join the AI Governance Office.

You will work with Legal, Privacy, Information Security, and business stakeholders to address risk and policy frameworks for AI-enabled products and services. The role follows a hybrid schedule with onsite three days per week in LA, NY, or San Mateo; Seattle applicants may be considered for remote arrangements.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum of 3 years of legal experience in law firms, in-house, or government.
• Experience advising on technology-related legal matters.
• Strong research, drafting, and communication skills.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Strong project management and organizational capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Sony's AI governance framework and related risk management processes.
• Conduct legal and regulatory analysis related to AI, including IP, consumer protection, product liability, privacy, and AI ethics.
• Review AI use cases to identify governance and ethical risks.
• Prepare first drafts of memos, policies, guidance documents, governance artifacts, and communications.
• Monitor and analyze global legal developments affecting AI.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate legal requirements into business guidance.
• Support governance forums, workshops, executive briefings, AI literacy, and strategic initiatives.
• Maintain governance documentation, templates, playbooks, and knowledge resources.
