Job summary

Sony Corporation of America seeks a Staff Attorney, AI Governance, to join the AI Governance Office and help operationalize governance frameworks for AI-enabled products and services. The role is hybrid with onsite expectations in LA, NY, and San Mateo; Seattle-area candidates may be considered for remote arrangements.

The attorney will prepare memos and policies, track regulatory developments, and collaborate with Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to translate policy into practical guidance.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 3 years of legal experience in law firm, in-house, or government.
• Experience advising on technology-related legal matters.
• Strong drafting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of Sony’s AI governance framework and risk management processes.
• Conduct legal and regulatory analysis relating to AI (IP, consumer protection, product liability, privacy).
• Review AI use cases to identify governance and ethical risks.
• Prepare memos, policies, guidance documents, and governance artifacts.
• Monitor global regulatory developments affecting AI; translate policy into business guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to implement governance requirements.
• Maintain governance documents, templates, and playbooks.
• Deliver governance trainings and executive briefings.
