Job summary

Sony Corporation of America, headquartered in New York, seeks a Staff Attorney, AI Governance, to join the AI Governance Office. The role supports developing and operationalizing AI governance frameworks and working with Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to mitigate risks and shape global baselines.

The position follows a hybrid schedule with onsite three days weekly in New York. Seattle-based remote options may be considered.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 3 years of legal experience in law firm, in-house, government, or similar.
• Experience advising on technology-related legal matters.
• Strong drafting, research, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support development and maintenance of Sony's AI governance framework and risk management processes.
• Conduct legal and regulatory analysis related to AI, including IP, privacy, product liability, and ethics.
• Review AI use cases to identify governance and ethical risks.
• Prepare memos, policies, guidance documents, and stakeholder communications.
• Monitor global AI legal developments and translate requirements into guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across businesses and jurisdictions.
