Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Staff Engineer II to lead AI-forward full-stack development in Lending platforms. You’ll collaborate with architects, QA, and business partners to deliver secure, scalable solutions using Azure, .NET, Python, React, and SQL.

You will guide junior engineers, ensure governance and security compliance, and contribute to solution design and automation in a dynamic fintech environment. Expect up to 25% travel and a strong emphasis on leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering or IT development experience in a financial services or lending environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Previous leadership experience leading features, components, or small workstreams is preferred.
• Knowledge of Financial Services/Banking and lending platforms is valuable.
• Experience building cloud-native Azure APIs, data integrations, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with AI-assisted development techniques (Prompt Engineering, RAG patterns).
• Strong regulatory and security/compliance knowledge in software development.
• Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams in Agile/DevOps environments.
• Ability to align technical solutions with business goals within governance processes.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of AI-enabled full-stack solutions for Lending platforms.
• Apply AI-forward engineering practices to improve automation and productivity.
• Design, develop, and maintain secure APIs using Azure API Management.
• Hands-on full-stack development with Azure, .NET, Python, React, SQL, and ETL tools.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools while adhering to governance and security standards.
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
• Support observability, monitoring, and performance to meet regulatory expectations.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure alignment with architectural standards.
• Collaborate with partners and teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Document designs and operating procedures according to IT standards.
