Job summary

Block is seeking a Software Engineer for the Tax Engine Server Engineering team to build and enhance the tax filing experience within Cash App. You will collaborate with product managers, tax experts, and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and reliability of the platform.

You will transform complex tax requirements into scalable software while upholding quality and security standards, with an emphasis on AI-enabled development practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience; tax industry experience is a plus.
• Strong backend, system design, and OO programming skills.
• Proven ability to deliver reliable software on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own high-quality features powering Cash App Taxes filing.
• Translate tax rules into clean, maintainable code with Tax Product Specialists.
• Build tooling to allow non-technical contributors to safely change code.
• Drive architectural decisions to keep the tax software scalable and secure.
• Write reliable, well-tested code and establish best practices for coding and deployment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Tax Product Specialists, Cloud Platform, Design, Product, and Care teams.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues related to accuracy and performance.
• Stay informed on emerging tech and AI practices to refine processes.
• Apply an AI-first mindset in daily work.
