Job summary

Stripe is seeking an AI Engineer to join the Solutions Architecture team in Chicago. You’ll embed with SA, shipping production-grade tools and automation that boost productivity across engagements, discovery, demos, and pipeline management.

You’ll work across codebases and cloud stacks, turning business problems into scalable engineering solutions. The role emphasizes close collaboration with Sales, Product, and Engineering, delivering impactful AI-powered workflows while communicating clearly

Qualifications

• Experience shipping production systems as an engineer.
• Backend fundamentals: debugging, tracing, and data flow reasoning.
• Experience building AI agents or AI-powered tools.
• Ability to scope work with minimal oversight in fast-moving teams.
• Proficiency in two of Ruby, Node.js, Python, Next.js.
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) deployment and monitoring.
• Experience building internal tools or developer platforms.
• Ability to work across multiple codebases and stacks.
• Hands-on AI/LLM use in engineering workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear technical explainer.
• Comfort with ambiguity and iterative shipping.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Solutions Architects, leadership, product, and engineering to scope work and define deliverables.
• Evaluate and integrate AI capabilities where they add measurable productivity.
• Architect and build internal tools, agents, and automated workflows across discovery, design, and pipeline management.
• Harden high-potential tools into scalable, production-grade solutions.
• Identify recurring friction and build generalized solutions.
• Create demo environments, PoCs, and technical assets for strategic engagements.
• Document architectures and usage patterns for reuse.
• Debug, extend, and maintain backend systems across codebases.
