Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities and scale AI across HDR’s Transportation Business Group. The role starts with internal solutions, data foundations, and bottleneck removal, then increasingly delivers client-facing AI services using proven, reusable capabilities.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous problems into structured AI solutions, and contribute to ongoing learning and capability maturation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years with data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, Power Query, and Pandas.
• 3+ years with BI tools including Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
• 3+ years with Python and R for data science and analytics.
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Internal AI capability development including design, deployment, and monitoring of AI solutions.
• Identify data, system, and process bottlenecks to enable AI scale across the organization.
• Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to implement scalable improvements.
• Transition to client-facing AI delivery and advisory work as capabilities mature.
