Job summary

HDR, Inc. presents an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement role focused on building internal AI capabilities and removing bottlenecks to scale artificial intelligence across HDR’s Transportation Business Group.

Initial work is internal, delivering AI solutions, improving data foundations, and identifying systemic bottlenecks. As capabilities mature, the role will transition toward client-facing AI delivery and advisory work, leveraging proven internal solutions as repeatable services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years experience with data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, Power Query, and Pandas.
• 3+ years experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
• 3+ years experience with data science languages such as Python and R.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional, ability to multitask a must.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent writing and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Internal AI capability development across design, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, and inference.
• Identify data, system, tooling, governance bottlenecks and propose scalable improvements.
• Collaborate with IT, data architects and stakeholders to translate problems into AI solutions.
• Support client pursuits and pilot projects using internally developed AI capabilities.
