Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Technical Commodity Manager who will own the end-to-end supplier lifecycle, from bid packages to supplier readiness, in a fast-paced, high-rate production environment. You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to drive cost-down, dual-sourcing, and cycle-time compression while embracing AI-driven procurement capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years or Master's with 3+ years in manufacturing environments
• Proven track record of managing NPI or development programs from design through high-rate production
• Experience with First Article Inspection, supplier capability studies, and production readiness validation including run-at-rate assessments
• Understanding high-rate production requirements: takt time, line balancing, capacity validation
• Experience building sourcing strategies: competitive events, dual-sourcing, make/buy analyses
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and ability to distill complex issues for executives
• Strong analytical skills with BOMs, MRP/ERP, cost modeling, and supply chain metrics
• Comfort with digital tools, AI adoption, supplier portals, and data-driven decision-making
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for supplier visits and on-site problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Build bid packages with technical requirements and commercial terms
• Lead competitive source selection events and onboard new suppliers
• Qualify suppliers through facility assessments and capability validation
• Drive supplier readiness through PPAP and run-at-rate validation
• Ensure capacity scaling and tooling readiness for high-rate production
• Develop dual/tri-source strategies to mitigate risk and drive cost competition
• Conduct make/buy/where analyses in collaboration with engineering
• Negotiate contracts and manage long-term agreements with suppliers
• Embed with technical programs and report status to leadership
• Support AI-driven procurement automation and continuous process improvement
