Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a Technical Commodity Manager embedded with engineering and manufacturing teams to own end-to-end supplier lifecycle—from bid packages to long-term agreements—supporting high-rate production and cost-down initiatives.

You will lead source selections, qualify new suppliers, collaborate with engineering and program teams, and drive supplier readiness through PPAP, capability studies, and run-at-rate validation while embracing AI-powered procurement tooling.

Qualifications

• Requires strong analytical and quantitative skills with BOMs and cost modeling.
• Experience embedding with engineering and manufacturing teams to influence decisions.
• Ability to distill complex supply chain issues into clear executive summaries and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Build comprehensive bid packages with technical requirements and commercial terms.
• Lead competitive source selection events and qualify onboard suppliers.
• Drive supplier readiness through PPAP, capability studies, and run-at-rate validation.
• Coordinate dual/tri-source strategies to mitigate risk and drive cost competition.
• Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements with suppliers.
• Provide status and risk reporting to program leadership and executive stakeholders.
