Job summary

Wabtec in Colorado is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of the Train Handling portfolio, including Trip Optimizer and Locotrol. You will work with engineering teams, product management, and railroad customers to advance automation in rail operations.

Under guidance of senior engineers, you will gather requirements, perform system analysis, contribute to verification activities, and apply AI-enabled tools to improve research, problem solving,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science.
• 1–2 years hands-on design, requirements development and implementation experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a cross‑functional, global environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, testing, and enhancement of Train Handling solutions.
• Assist in gathering, documenting, and analyzing customer and system requirements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support project execution and successful product delivery.
• Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, verification activities, and technical discussions.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and analyzing system behavior.
• Contribute to field testing, validation, and evaluation activities for train automation and optimization solutions.
• Support the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and engineering deliverables.
• Work with railroad subject matter experts to learn operational concepts and apply them to product development.
• Develop knowledge of industry standards, engineering best practices, and emerging technologies.
