Job summary

Gusto is seeking a Product Designer for HRX to craft AI-native HR experiences end to end. You will shape service design across two-sided interactions, ensuring accurate AI outputs with appropriate human overrides, and grounding work in real customer needs with strong craft from strategy to pixel level.

Collaborate with product, engineering, and data to steer direction in a high-stakes, regulated domain, while embracing ambiguity and delivering impactful design solutions that earn customer trust.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product design experience owning and shipping work in a B2B SaaS environment.
• Experience designing AI-enabled or conversational experiences shipped to real users, with handling of uncertainty and errors.
• Experience in service design for two-sided products with operational handoffs.
• Judgment to evaluate and direct AI outputs, and know when to override.
• Comfort with ambiguity, framing problems and progressing without perfect information.
• Strong collaboration and communication across design, product, engineering, and data.

Responsibilities

• Shape AI-native HR experiences end to end; deliver the right outcomes for customers.
• Lead service design across two-sided experiences with journey mapping and handoffs.
• Make and defend judgments on AI outputs and decide when to ship or involve humans.
• Ground work in real customer needs with high craft from strategy to pixel level.
• Partner with PM, engineering, and data to co-own product direction.
• Work in fast cycles: set targets, ship, learn, and sharpen direction.
• Conduct and direct user and expert research to validate decisions in high-stakes domains.
