Job summary

Itron is seeking an AI Data Science Intern to support the HR AI Enablement & Strategy team. You will help translate HR data into insights, assist with AI agent training, and prototype AI workflows in a learning-focused environment.

Hybrid internship based in Austin, TX, starting Summer 2027. You will collaborate across HR, IT, and analytics to deliver dashboards and analytics for business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a related degree program (Data Science, CS, Statistics, Business Analytics).
• Intermediate skills in Python, R, or similar languages with exposure to data analysis workflows.
• Basic understanding of AI and ML concepts such as model training or evaluation.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and growth mindset with interest in responsible AI in business.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, testing, and supervised deployment of AI-agent–driven HR solutions.
• Support data preparation, cleaning, and exploratory analysis of HR/workforce datasets.
• Contribute to training, evaluation, and improvement of AI agents including data annotation.
• Participate in prototyping AI models and analytics features in an agile environment.
• Collaborate with HR, IT, and analytics to create visualizations, dashboards, and insights.
