Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an experienced cloud infrastructure engineer to design, build and operate scalable AI platforms across AWS and approved on‑prem environments. You will manage accounts, landing zones, and reference patterns while enabling Bedrock, SageMaker and on‑prem AI workloads with strong security and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS engineering with IAM, VPC, compute and storage.
• Strong Kubernetes expertise in EKS/ROSA/OpenShift.
• Solid networking fundamentals for cloud and hybrid environments.
• Experience with API gateways and service exposure across environments.
• Infrastructure-as-Code and automation using Terraform and scripting.
• Cloud security, identity management and compliance knowledge.
• Experience with monitoring and cost management for cloud estates.
• Ability to design, build, and operate AI/offload platforms at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and manage AWS accounts, landing zones and reference patterns for AI workloads.
• Engineer compute, storage, and networking foundations for AI workloads including GPU instances.
• Enable AI platform services like Bedrock and SageMaker with proper access and logging.
• Create reusable infrastructure‑as‑code modules and deployment pipelines.
• Design and maintain on‑prem AI infrastructure for edge use cases.
• Support disconnected environments with local compute, patching and recovery processes.
• Develop standards, runbooks and governance for on‑prem and edge AI deployments.
• Integrate on‑prem AI with enterprise identity, security and networking controls.
