Job description

Sales Rep with a Purpose

We’re looking for someone passionate about cultivating interest in a responsible way to grow. More than just identifying new markets, pitching prospects, and connecting customers to the right products, we need someone engaged with our mission to play a small role in the global effort to restore and regenerate our planet.

This is a remote role, and the candidate must live in/near Western Wisconsin or South Eastern Minnesota and be able to visit customers throughout the region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Sales Rep responsibilities include:

  1. Build and maintain a productive and growing sales lead network.
  2. Communicate with customers and leads.
  3. Manage healthy customer relationships through ongoing communication.
  4. Communicate new products to prospects and customers.
  5. Maintain sales reports—calls, orders, sales, lost business, customer or vendor relationship issues.
  6. Provide periodic territory sales forecasts.
  7. Assist Sales Manager with organizational skills, account strategies, territory planning, and administrative responsibilities.
  8. Develop and increase sales revenue to meet targets.
  9. Become actively involved in sales orientation and training.
  10. Act as a knowledgeable expert to customers.
  11. Assist with sales exhibit planning.
  12. Attend trade shows.
  13. Participate in education and training conferences on selling and marketing programs.
  14. Coordinate and assist in leading sales meetings, including site selection and agenda preparation.
  15. Monitor competitive activity and develop new methods of attaining new accounts.
  16. Troubleshoot product issues.
  17. Handle customer questions and complaints.
  18. Travel regionally within Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, including for trade shows.

BACKGROUND / SKILLS / ABILITIES
  • At least three years of sales experience in lawn and garden, horticulture, soil media, compost, and/or fertilizer; five years preferred.
  • Experience as a Sales Agronomist is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of the sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
  • Proficient with Salesforce or other CRM.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or similar.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, customer service, sales, and negotiation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good IT and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced, stressful environment.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, loud environments, fumes, airborne particles, potentially toxic chemicals, and vibration.

LOCATION & AVAILABILITY

Must be based in or near Minnesota or Wisconsin, with the ability to work on-site as needed.
