Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Deputy Program Manager / Scrum Master to drive day-to-day delivery on a large federal advisory program. You will coach Agile teams, lead Scrum events, and keep work visible while engaging the client to ensure alignment with program objectives.

Based in Bloomington, IL, you will partner with the Senior Program Manager, coordinate cross-team Scrum-of-Scrums, and remove impediments to keep teams productive.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Experience on federal or large, complex enterprise programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong facilitation skills.
• Local to Baltimore, MD metro area or willing to travel to client sites two days a week.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily standups; manage Kanban flow and visibility.
• Identify and remove delivery impediments and blockers at the team level.
• Run cross-team Scrum-of-Scrums; manage dependencies and feed into the program schedule.
• Maintain team backlogs, sprint boards, and dependency maps with workstream leads.
• Conduct regular project health checkpoints; translate retrospectives into corrective actions and risk updates.
• Track COR-directed actions and escalations; support governance requirements.
• Coach teams on Agile/Scrum; drive continuous process improvement.
• Coordinate Transition-In logistics, onboarding, and system/access tracking for new members.
• Deputize for Senior Program Manager in reviews and decision-making as needed.
