Job summary

Baltimore City Government’s Department of Recreation and Parks is seeking an Agency IT Manager III to align technology with the department's goals, ensuring secure IT operations and guiding the agency's IT division.

The role requires a BS in IT/CS/CE, eight years of IT experience with four in supervision, and strong leadership, budgeting, vendor management, and strategic planning within a government setting.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in application programming, systems analysis and design, hierarchical/relational database management and/or GIS; including four years of supervisory responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous IT experience in government is preferred.
• Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and be eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.

Responsibilities

• Supervises to ensure the efficient working of divisional IT staff, and ensures compliance to deadlines, and provides upgrades to systems when required.
• Ensures team members develop and maintain technical knowledge in specialized areas, remaining up to date on current trends and best practices.
• Prepares financial budgets and presents proposals for capital projects. Evaluates new technologies for competitive advantage.
• Applies contemporary business principles integral to a high-technical environment.
• Works with team to enhance current technology to improve customer satisfaction and services.
• Manages hardware and software vendor relationships. Anticipates future network needs, identifies proactive solutions to satisfy needs.
• Establishes and builds relationships with vendors. Champions change and effectively manages the implementation of new ideas.
• Manages the development of project managers and supervisors.
