Job summary

The City of New York's Department seeks an Agency Attorney to perform legal work involving investigations and prosecution of misconduct by uniformed NYPD personnel. Under supervision with some independence, you will research and draft memoranda based on investigative files for Executive staff review.

Qualifications include NY State Bar admission and relevant courtroom or internal investigations experience; salary and benefits align with civil service standards in New York City.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar; and either the two or three additional eligibility requirements.
• One year of satisfactory United States legal experience after admission to any state bar; or six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
• Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment.
• To be assigned to Assignment Level II, one year of experience at Level I or two years of comparable legal experience; for Level III, two years at Levels I/II or three years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform legal work involving investigations and prosecution of misconduct by uniformed employees of the Police Department.
• Prepare legal memoranda after reviewing investigative files; present to Executive staff for final determination and adjudication.
