Qualifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
  • One year of legal experience after admission to a state bar, or six months as an Agency Attorney Interne.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate disciplinary matters for legal sufficiency and draft formal disciplinary charges.
  • Prepare and review documents and reciprocal discovery including audio/video evidence.
  • Assist and/or participate in disciplinary investigations and informal settlement negotiations.
  • Represent the DOT during informal conferences at OATH and in disciplinary proceedings; draft memoranda detailing evidence and recommended penalties.
  • Conduct legal research, review evidence, and prosecute disciplinary actions under Civil Service Law and labor contracts.
