Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking a part-time swim coach to oversee 12 and Under programming at Upper Main Line YMCA in Berwyn, PA. You will communicate with families, assist the competitive aquatics staff, and help plan meets and seasonal timelines.

The role requires coaching experience with youth swimmers, Lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire, and fluency in English; a related degree or experience is preferred. Join a values-driven nonprofit with strong benefits and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Competitive swimming experience for a minimum of 4 years preferred.
• Current Lifeguard certifications or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must have at least 2 years of coaching experience with swimmers of all ages.
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
• YMCA swimming coaches' credentials or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing and coach age group (12 and Under - mini, level 3, level 2) programming.
• Communicate with 12 and Under members and parents on a regular basis.
• Assist Director of Competitive Aquatics or Associate Head Coach.
• Help build a season plan (including meets) and coordinate with the Director of Competitive Aquatics.
• Offer a year-round program including short course and long course options and a competitive summer league.
• Recruit and retain program participants.
• Develop and oversee practice schedules for 12 and Under swim groups.
• Attend meets and support the entire competitive program.
• Facilitate summer swim program; manage registrations and logistics for swimmers at dual meets.
• Teach and address skill levels with an inclusive, welcoming curriculum.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What You'll Do

QualificationsWhat You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
• Competitive Swimming Experience for a minimum of 4 years preferred
• Current Lifeguard certifications or obtain certification within 30 days of hire
• Must have at least 2 years of coaching experience with swimmers of all ages
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• YMCA swimming coaches' credentials or obtain certification within 30 days of hire
• Ability to demonstrate all swim strokes
• Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
• Display a positive and professional attitude and possess strong interpersonal skills
