Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead to serve as the primary leader of a licensed school-age enrichment program in the Conroe area. You will ensure children are safe, engaged, and supported daily, coordinating operations, implementing the YMCA curriculum, and building strong relationships with families and partners.

You will supervise staff, maintain accurate records, conduct safety drills, and ensure program quality and compliance with state licensing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED and 70 clock hours of child development training.
• One year of experience with youth in a licensed childcare facility, school, church, or similar setting; background checks required.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities; experience with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe: maintain a safe environment, supervise, attend to emergencies per YMCA/state licensing requirements.
• Site Management: oversee daily afterschool operations as the designated Texas Childcare Licensing Site Director; ensure safe, nurturing environment; manage site and equipment.
• Supervision and Safety: maintain records, attendance, incident reports; ensure staff adherence to policies; monitor safety.
• Behavior Management: implement positive behavior management techniques to promote respectful environment.
• Program & Policy Compliance: conduct safety drills, ensure postings, follow health, safety, and confidentiality policies.
• Program Planning and Implementation: oversee age-appropriate activities, adapt for diverse needs, evaluate effectiveness.
