Job summary

YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is seeking an Afterschool Site Coordinator in Shallotte, NC to oversee the afterschool program at the assigned school. The site director serves as the primary daily contact with school administration, staff, parents, and guardians while helping establish the program and maintain YMCA values.

The role requires planning and implementing curriculum, supervising children and staff, communicating with families, and ensuring program records and CACFP compliance.

Qualifications

• Two years of college preferred toward a degree in education or related field.
• At least 21 years of age and/or training significant for the YMCA program.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
• 2 years' experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Experience with diverse populations and building positive, authentic relationships.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Ensures parents are kept informed of all site and program activities and communicates both positive and negative behavior of children to parents.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records including attendance sheets, incident sheets, and behavior reports; maintains CACFP records.
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Follows and implements the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards.
• Trains new staff on current YMCA policies and procedures.
• Supervises afterschool counselors; modify the schedule as necessary to maintain appropriate staff to student ratios and remain within budget.
• Develop relationships with school and community stakeholders to further deepen the YMCA and school relationship.
