Job summary

YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is seeking an Afterschool Site Coordinator for the Ash - Brunswick County location. The role oversees the afterschool program in partnership with the collaborating school and serves as the primary face-to-face contact for school staff, parents, and guardians.

Qualifications

• Two years or more of college preferred toward a degree in education or related field.
• At least 21 years of age and/or training significant for the YMCA program.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
• 2 years' experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations; ability to develop positive, authentic relationships.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Ensures parents are informed of site and program activities and communicates behavior of children to parents.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships with parents; engages parents as volunteers.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records including attendance sheets, incident sheets, and behavior reports; CACFP records.
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Follows and implements Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards.
• Trains new staff on YMCA policies and procedures.
• Supervises afterschool counselors and manages staff-to-student ratios within budget.
• Develops relationships with school and community stakeholders to deepen YMCA-school ties.
• Site Coordinators with large sites may assist with lunch monitoring and playground monitoring.
