Job summary

YMCA of the Treasure Coast is seeking an After-School Program Counselor to support children and youth after school. You will supervise activities, promote a safe and inclusive environment, and help plan engaging activities that foster growth.

You will build positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff while enforcing rules and safety procedures. CPR/First Aid and DCF 45 hours preferred or to be obtained within the first months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience in child development or education is a plus.
• Previous experience working with children or in youth programs preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• DCF 45 hours (or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days)

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children and youth in after-school activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
• Plan and implement age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities
• Foster positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff to promote a welcoming atmosphere
• Enforce program rules and safety procedures consistently
• Support children in their social, emotional, and academic development
• Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
• Collaborate with team members to create a dynamic and supportive program environment
