Job summary

YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHEAST VENT is seeking a dedicated individual to lead a high-quality child development program in Thousand Oaks, CA. You will supervise a group of children and ensure a positive experience for children and parents aligned with YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

The role focuses on implementing curriculum, building belonging, and maintaining safety and records while engaging families in volunteer opportunities.

Qualifications

• Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law or has relevant early childhood education units.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Knowledge of acceptable child care practices.
• Demonstrates initiative to plan, lead and participate in activities.
• All required online training must be completed before starting work.
• Mandated reporting course completed within 30 days of hire.
• Familiarity with mandated reporting procedures.
• CPR & First Aid certifications current.
• Health and TB clearance.
• Up-to-date TDAP, MMR and Influenza vaccinations.
• Criminal records clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum and program activities within established guidelines.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming to build achievement and belonging.
• Supervises children, classroom, and activities including ADA accommodations.
• Follows policies on medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Scans environments for hazards and informs senior staff.
• Performs ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Cultivates positive relationships and communicates with parents; engages volunteers.
• Uses positive reinforcement for behavioral concerns.
• Maintains program site and equipment and required records.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; completes online trainings.
• Participates in family nights and program activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
