Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator for the Chinatown YMCA to oversee academic enrichment and SEL-aligned activities for school-aged children. You will supervise program operations, ensure safety, and maintain records while coordinating with school staff and families.

You will lead engaging, developmentally appropriate activities, manage day-to-day operations, and leverage community partnerships to sustain high attendance and quality programming.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s Degree in Education preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with children under 13.
• CPR or First Aid certifications preferred.
• General proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Direct afterschool programs (K-5 or 6-8) ensuring age-appropriate activities aligned with DYCD and OCFS requirements.
• Promote SEL best practices and engaging activities for holistic student development.
• Coordinate with host school staff and partners to align schedules with academic goals.
• Maintain accurate program documentation and participant records.
• Develop relationships with families and community partners to boost participation.
• Oversee data management for program records and evaluations.
