Job summary

The West Side YMCA in New York, NY is seeking an Afterschool Coordinator to lead Y Afterschool programming, ensuring academic alignment and safe, engaging activities. You will supervise staff, manage records, and support children’s learning in collaboration with host schools.

You will promote wellbeing, coordinate schedules, and maintain program documentation while upholding OCFS/DOH/DYCD standards and YMCA values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years' experience with children under 13.
• CPR/First Aid certifications preferred.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
• Y Afterschool operates 2:30–6:00 p.m. weekdays.

Responsibilities

• Direct programs serving the designated grade level band (K-5 or 6-8).
• Drive SEL best practices and engaging activities for holistic student development.
• Ensure programs align with host school's academic goals.
• Develop and execute recruiting and retention strategies.
• Routinely analyze data and evaluations to improve program quality.
• Maintain documentation required by OCFS/DOH/DYCD and YMCA.
