Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Program Director for its Afterschool initiative. You will lead a diverse staff, shape programming, and ensure inclusive, developmentally appropriate activities. This is a leadership role focused on delivering high-quality afterschool experiences.

You will oversee budgets, contracts, and reporting while fostering a supportive environment for children, families, and staff in alignment with the LEAP framework.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following credentials or degrees.
• Credentia ls and degrees must be in child development, elementary education, or related fields.
• Experience with children under 13 and supervisory roles preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities required.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and lead a diverse staff to deliver high-quality programming.
• Program Excellence: Design, implement engaging activities meeting developmental needs of participants.
• Inclusion and Mental Wellness: Incorporate mental health support, case management, and SEL for participants and staff.
• Operational Management: Manage site budgets, ensure fiscal responsibility, and comply with contractual reporting.

New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential

School-Age Child Care Credential or equivalent

Two years of college with 18 credits in related field
