National Community Renaissance is seeking an Afterschool Program Assistant to work with students in a supervised afterschool program at our site. This part-time, non-exempt role supports the Program Coordinator with planning, activities, and daily operations to foster health, wellness, academics and career exposure.

The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and has experience with youth, volunteers, and team coordination. The role emphasizes positive mentorship, safety, and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working or volunteering with children and teens in a professional setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate volunteers and staff as part of a team.
  • Comfort with supervising youth and enforcing program rules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring and supervision of students; enforce program rules and procedures.
  • Create and facilitate engaging activities in health, wellness, character development, and STEAM.
  • Help develop a calendar of activities to complement student learning.
  • Lead and supervise youth; recognize issues and apply procedures.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and motivating environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model in dress, speech, and attitude.
  • Maintain cleanliness and assist with setup/breakdown.
  • Support daily snack/meals program and record-keeping.
  • Adhere to site policies.
  • Attend community events as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
