Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community Freedom Public Charter School is seeking an Afterschool Program Assistant to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for students in the school's afterschool program. This role supports daily operations, supervises students, assists with enrichment activities, and promotes positive student engagement.

The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, creative, and enjoys working with children, with a high school diploma and ability to work with multiple grade

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with children in educational or childcare settings preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with students across multiple grades.
• FBI background clearance required.
• TB screening/clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of students during afterschool programming.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate enrichment activities.
• Prepare materials and supplies for activities.
• Supervise supper and assist with cleanup.
• Reinforce school routines, expectations, and positive behavior.
• Build relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Support daily program operations and maintain a safe environment.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
• Collaborate with team members to support a successful afterschool program.

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 2:00pm-6:00pm
Grades Supported: Pre‑K through 5th Grade

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of students during afterschool programming
• Plan, organize, and facilitate enrichment activities that support student growth and engagement
• Prepare materials and supplies for activities and projects
• Supervise students during supper and assist with cleanup
• Reinforce school‑wide routines, expectations, and positive behavior
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
• Support daily program operations and maintain a safe, organized environment
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
• Collaborate with team members to support a successful afterschool program

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with students across multiple grade levels
• FBI criminal background clearance required
• Tuberculosis screening/clearance required
