Job summary

Homes for the Homeless in Queens, NY is seeking an Afterschool Group Leader to supervise and inspire children ages 5–16. You will plan lessons, deliver activities, and organize field trips to create a safe, structured environment that supports learning and enrichment.

The role requires strong youth development skills, teamwork, and flexibility to support events and occasional evenings or weekend activities. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of direct experience with children under 13 years.
• Ability to develop age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Comfort with organizing field trips and events.

Responsibilities

• Manage the classroom and supervise children for a safe, engaging environment.
• Develop and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Organize and supervise field trips.
• Coordinate team games and sports events.
• Lead arts and crafts projects.
• Ensure safety and active participation in all activities.
• Assist with events, fairs, and celebrations; occasional evenings/weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
