Job summary

Queens Community House seeks enthusiastic Group Leaders to mentor elementary and middle school students across multiple after-school locations in Queens, NY. You will guide daily activities, support homework, and promote teamwork in a nurturing environment.

The role runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM during the school year (Sept–June). Experience with youth activities is preferred, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education background as stated.
• 1+ year of experience leading youth activities is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage students in dynamic daily activities.
• Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Provide academic support, homework help, and skill-building activities.
• Work closely with the Educational Specialist, Program Director, and Assistant Directors.
• Maintain strong communication with students, staff, families, and school partners.
• Assist in coordinating special events, field trips, and thematic projects.
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that encourages respect and teamwork.
• Ensure the safety and security of all students.
• Serve as a mentor and role model, leading by example.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and complete required training.
• Follow all program policies, safety protocols, and compliance guidelines.
• Take on additional tasks to support overall program success.
