Job summary

Guntersville City Schools is seeking an After School Program Instructor at Guntersville Elementary School to provide tutoring, remediation, enrichment, and academic support after the regular day. The role emphasizes small-group instruction, supervision, and collaboration with program staff to help meet goals.

The position is hourly, non-exempt, with a 177‑day contract year. A Bachelor's degree is required, and Alabama educator certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Valid Alabama educator certification preferred.
• Must meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, maintain records, manage data, and prepare reports.
• Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job duties.
• Punctuality and regular attendance.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
• Supports all daily operations of the after-school and summer programs.
• Adheres to schedules, procedures, and enrichment opportunities designed to meet program goals.
• Ensures a safe, orderly, and positive environment for students and staff.
• Maintains class attendance records, inventories, and required documentation.
• Engages in positive communication with parents and community partners.
• Ensures compliance with district policies, grant requirements, and state and federal regulations.
• Collaborates with school administrators and instructional staff to support student success.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding student, school, workplace, and personnel matters.
• Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
• Demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
• Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
