Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Alabama teaching certificate in the grade level, subject area(s) assigned.
  • Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, for maximizing student achievement.
  • Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming for designated grade level(s)/subject(s).
  • Ability to use technology to communicate, plan, provide instruction, facilitate student learning, manage data, and produce reports.
  • Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates support for the school system, its vision, goals and priorities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of child development and curriculum guidelines.
  • Implements prescribed curriculum using best instructional practices.
  • Utilizes technology to plan and provide instruction.
  • Models and facilitates technology integration in the classroom.
  • Provides modifications for students with special needs, incl. ELL and exceptional education students.
  • Establishes routines and uses appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Creates a challenging learning climate and monitors student progress using assessments.
  • Participates in state and/or standardized testing as assigned.
  • Maintains documentation and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Maintains confidentiality according to state and federal law.
