Job summary

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school enrichment program in Norwalk, CT. Lead fun chess classes for elementary students using our curriculum and create a positive classroom environment. You will travel to local schools as needed.

This role offers flexible hours (1–5 classes per week) with classes typically from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Competitive pay ($50–$75 per class) plus mileage reimbursement for longer trips is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, engaging sessions.
• Strong, kid-friendly demeanor and reliable transportation for travel between schools.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom and redirect behavior when needed.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking through chess.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissals, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session and arrive prepared.
