Job summary

Chess Wizards instructors teach fun, interactive chess to elementary students in Vernon, CT, using our structured curriculum to build fundamentals and sportsmanship. You’ll manage a lively, engaging classroom, guiding problem-solving and critical thinking in a supportive environment.

Ideal candidates have experience with groups of children, a reliable schedule for 1–5 classes weekly, and the ability to travel between local schools. Training, materials, and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, friendly sessions.
• Strong, positive demeanor and role-model presentation.
• Ability to explain chess fundamentals and age-appropriate strategies.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between schools.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal and activities.
