Job summary

Chess Wizards in Norwalk, CT is seeking enthusiastic instructors to lead after-school chess classes for elementary students. You will use our curriculum, keep students engaged, and promote sportsmanship while managing a lively classroom.

This role offers flexible weekday afternoon hours (2:00–5:00 PM) with 1–5 classes per week, competitive pay per class, and mileage reimbursement for drives over 15 miles. Training is provided and relocation is not required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, fun sessions.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use our structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and in-class activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
