Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school program in Purcellville, VA. You’ll lead fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students and use our structured curriculum to teach fundamentals and sportsmanship.

Classes occur weekday afternoons, typically 2:00 PM–5:00 PM, with 1–5 sessions per week. Competitive pay is offered ($60–$75 per class) plus mileage reimbursement for travel between local schools.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently with an upbeat, engaging style.
• Strong, kid-friendly demeanor and reliability.
• Solid grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain basics to elementary students.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols and supervise students during arrivals and dismissals.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
